In Toronto
I've left Bangkok and am at my sister's house to visit my new nephew. I was afraid he would cry the moment I held him, but instead he loves me and is always happy to spend time with me and play with me. It feels great to be back in my own culture, although the weather takes some getting used to. I grew accustomed to the heat. I ate some delicious peaches today. The local park is run by young parents who are installing a biodegradable toilet. It has an adobe firepit with a pizza oven that families can rent. The locally run snack bar gives out free tap water (or sells bottled for $2) and sells veggie burgers.People recycle here and care about the environment. They read lots of books. They think a lot. They care about the same sorts of things I care about. Coming home feels much better than I imagined.
