Opps?. Dad I just cut off my hand....

And then you see a big, big grin from ear to ear.
First time allowing 2 small devils (4Y, 7Y) to cut their own Christmas tree can be quite trilling. So pack all the things in the car and drive upcountry into the forest…change clothes, unload the tools…
After the obligatory quarrel which one gets the bigger axe, the bigger saw,… they were showed how to cut a tree without killing themselves.
Having an eye on them they started their work…The amazing thing is to see how fast children are learning. It seemed that in a fraction of a second they know how to use the tools and how to cut a tree.
Another amazing thing is to see that the sentence’ You can cut one or two trees over there’ is translated in a child’s brain into ‘Cut whatever is growing around here’.
100 years vs 4 years winner
Result was that after one hour I was the proud owner of a forest with a place in the middle, looking like the A-team in person dropped by.And also the owner of numberless Christmas trees. Small, medium, tiny – unattractive, ugly, ugly as sin - being able to supply a mid-sized town. They also showed no understanding for my remark ‘Why so many trees?’Answer:‘We have so many friends’ and even ‘I want to bring some (not one!) to Tia (his friend) in Bangkok‘ Hmm.. What can you say after that? I am sure both will always be remembered at the Thai airways check-in……
Oh, yes I know… Many will not agree that axe, spearhead and chain saw are appropriate toys for kids. Don’t worry, the little one is already 4 years old and the chain saw is just for dad. JBut I have to admit I was happy afterwards that I did not hear the sentence:‘Opps…. Dad I just cut off my hand....’

And in everyday life they have normal toys, too…Hmm did I mention about the fireworks?
