Pre Songkran Non TF event
On Thursday 12 April, we took a long hike from the On Nut Skytrain Station to the heart of Samut Prakan. There were only two of us. Myself (condotown) and Michael (samesame). We had no idea how long it would take when we departed just after 1:30 pm as the rain was subsiding.
As we walked, we could see the foundation pillars of the soon to be expanded skytrain line. The sidewalks had a lot of puddles, but were still navigable. The first hour went very fast as we worked our way south. We were surprised to come across a sign which indicated that our goal was only about 9 km away. But was that the center of the city which we sought? Had we already reached Imperial Samrong where Naughty's ill-fated skating party had been planned a little more than a week earlier? Among the lovely sites was a Klong which we crossed. I had never seen or heard of that huge three-headed Elephant tourist trap before that day. We each saved 150 baht by walking past. We stopped to look at some tiles for future redecoration projects. à ÃÒÃÑ¡¡ÃÃà º×éç Don't deport me cuz it rhymes. The museum was already closed by the time we reached it. But really, what's worth seeing in the Thai Navy Museum? Finally we reached the government seat of Samut Prakan. And it was right next to the water. So we posed. And we walked through a smelly market and reached a pier with a ferry going across the river. We didn't have time to go across. So then, we went for a meal. We were so hungry that I didn't even remember to take a pic until we were finished eating. We walked back to a bus stop and waited until a bus came to take us back to On Nut BTS. On the bus: The ticket: I was making a plan!! To end the evening with a delicious piece of cake from MoMo on the way home at the Mall Ram. Then I went home to camp out the next three days until this Songkran thing is over.My room is the most organized it's been in years! Thx all for enjoying this journal of an adventure for the ages.
