Yesterday morning a package arrived for me from the USA, I opened it to find several beautifully wrapped gifts from my stepmother who lives in Texas. She found me on myspace on Christmas day after leaving my father 20 years ago. My father died 5 yrs ago so I thought we would never have any contact ever again. Among these gifts was a copy of her latest CD, a signed copy of the book that she and her husband Bobby have been credited on as the main source of research titled "Layla and other assorted love songs", named after the album her husband made with Eric Clapton while in the group Derick and the Domino's, but the best gift of all was a large red leather bound photo album with just the word "memories" on the cover. At the start of the album is a sketch she started of me but never quite finished dated 1985, then as you look through it is full of amazing photos of my father and her in their band in the UK and then when they moved to L.A. Also news clippings and reviews of some of their record releases and one 7' single and cover that was released in 1986 just before they divorced. So many memories in this one photo album, this will be one of my most treasured posessions  for the rest of my life, A priceless irreplaceable gift. The fact she kept all this stuff 20 years after she divorced my father is amazing, then that she found me on myspace after all this time is even more unbelievable.  What a wonderful day yesterday was.

nice... I wonder if i wll ever get stuff like this? Think all childhood pics of mine has been returned to me almost all. My aunt may have some left but very little unless she planned to give me big surprise on my wedding day.. lol
