lived there 2 years. Gav - if you spent any time there you would know that there are about equal measures of Pommy and Ozzy. Great place!! 2 of the best years of my life there. In fact, almost 3 yrs, just that a couple of months are a blur!!

Lol.. But Jakarta is really a great place to hang out, with many nice clubs.. Comparing with Bangkok it is less safe, more poor, more dirty and you really have to know the right places ;-) Taxis at night are also a big disaster and yeaaa bajajs, the indonesian tuk tuk with the little smelly and smokey 2-stroke engines, are a big disaster :-) Indonesian food is nice also, but I would not eat on the street there, because it is less clean then in Thailand..

I remember one good place to eat was Sate Khas Senayan (Jalan Kebon Sirih Raya 31A) at the northern end Of Jalan Jaksa.
