FORT MYERS, Fla. —  A 63-year-old woman blamed a great sale for the reason she left her small child locked inside a sweltering car for an hour.Eileen Amy Politano, of North Fort Myers, Fla., was charged with felony child neglect Friday after leaving an 11-month-old girl in a car while she went into a grocery store.Store employees said they saw the girl crying in the car and were able to rescue her before police arrived. Outside temperature were upward of 85 degrees.Politano told police she intended to run into the store for a few minutes to buy some meat for dinner, but said there were too many specials to pass up.When medical personnel asked Politano to give the child something to drink, she reportedly reached into her car and grabbed a bottle of spoiled formula.Politano was released on $1,500 bond.  This is why women are not suppose to have children and have menopause as they get older because people get forgetful and other things. Furtility drugs and selfishness of people are cauing more and more problems like this and the closer I get to becoming 35 and 40 the more I debate raising a child. I see these men old enough to be someone grandfather with a new born and I wonder what the heck are you thinking? It was hard enough for parents like that when technology didn't move at the pace it is now how can you teach and equip a child with the necessary abilities and socially important tools that are relevant? I think about the child predators and how many of these have easy access because of these aging people have no clue about pc's, parental blocks, and mointoring software. If you are getting upset about my comments or thoughts just think about the journals of people who posted ALERT or WARNING about the oldest freakings scams on the net from Nigeria like they are new. No offence to those people ment but it's the same lack of awareness that will if not a father in the next few years keep me from being one. If you are more then 40-48 years over the age of your child please stay current on trends, technology, and for GODS sake ... don't stop for sales!!!! lol

Age has nothing to do with it. Stupidity and ignorance are the problems not age.

You don't "forget" you left a child in the car.

"According to investigators, Heather M. Russell, 27, of Kokomo, left the child unattended in the 700 block of South Purdum Street at about 3:30 p.m."

"The child's uncle, Noe Vargas, 18, was charged with child endangerment causing death."

"a 33-year-old woman left her 15-month-old step-grandson in a parked car for more than five hours with temperatures topping 95 degrees."

Yes I agree leaving a child in a car in the heat for any amount of time is stupidity and neglect, should be a crime.

As far as having children at a late age I know many can be great parents, but my own personal opinion is that even myself at 51 yrs why in hell would I want a child around my feet at 60yrs?

Not possible for grandad to look after a 10 yr old kid for a long period of time.

BJ: In Canada and USA (and I am sure other countries) it is illegal. It's called Child Endangerment.

I know what you mean about having children at a late age. The only thing I want running around my ankles at age 60 is my loyal dog. ;)

My parents are both in their 60s and often babysit my two nieces (age 10 months and 6 years). It's quite exhausting for them.

Yes, I agree with theRascalKing about this - it's not age, just plain stupidity, neglect, and lack of concern for ones child.

Grezzzy and I took my three kids for a holiday when we went to Australia, and neither of us could imagine leaving any of them unattended for any time at all anywhere, never mind leaving a kid alone in a car.

It is illegal in most countries I believe, it's just called different things.

Children look to adults for support and protection, and neglect means that the parent or gaurdian is providing neither, and should not be given the responsibility to safeguard a life.
