I was pleasantly surprised yesterday by a co-worker of mine who overheard me talking about my wanting to learn more of the Thai language, when he presented me with a language CD by "Rosetta Stone".   When I took this program home I was even more surprised as it not only included the Thai program, but also about 15 other languages as well....apparently not a cheap program, I think these things go for about $220 USD if you had to purchase them.   Since it is the Christmas season and my friend gave me such a nice gift, anyone got any ideas for a little something I can give him as a nice "thank you".  I know he does like his "vodka", so can anyone recommend any particularly good vodkas out there......thanks.

Study Rosetta and say Khop Kun Kup to him...........he gives you a nice gift, and you want to give him back a bottle of Vodka? Alcohol is not the greatest gift you know, don't you know where Ala Moana Shopping Center is? lol

Yeah Ed, I'm quite familiar with Ala Moana Center...lol. I just suggested the vodka because I know he really enjoys it and since I'm not really a vodka drinker, I'm not really sure as to what would "qualify" as a "quality" vodka.

By the way, since it is the Christmas season, have you checked out the parking situation over there!!!! it's absolutly crazy...I think Santa should bring me some "patience" for Christmas this year......lol

Aloha,

Dan

Good name for a language learning brand.

'The Rosetta Stone' was important to understand the meaning of hieroglyphic writing. The text, found on the stone was written in three languages, one of them was in hieroglyphs.. Champolion deciphered the stone, and from there the hieroglyphic language could be translated..

Hi Yuri,

Yes, that's right about the "Rosetta Stone", interesting bit of information and a good name for this program. Havn't got into the program that much right now, but it appears to be well thought out and seems to make learning a different language easier as it tests the subject on understanding and even speach.

Thanks for the tips on the vodka.

Aloha,

Dan
