... Because it seems most American families these days are nearer to being like this than like the ones on TV sitcoms.

condo--think your wrong on that. most families in the states are very loving and caring of their children. all what people see are the worst of this society that gets broadcast on the world news. i know of a lot of single parent homes that the mothers strived their best to give a loving home for the kids. am from one of these homes. mom was great she did her best for me which was more then enough. i know where eminem grew up i was just there last month. all i can say is wow for some one to make it out of that **** pit of waste is incredible. not a place you would want to end up at 2 in the morning.
