Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I'll give it a shot. As I am contemplating a move to BKK i'm starting to do the due diligence on the mudane things. I'm looking into medical and dental insurance plans. Can anyone advise a place that I might start inquiring (aside from google...lol) about medical and dental insurance plans for foreigners (not even sure if this is a factor ...)

Cheers,

Greg

You should ask your employer that. If you have a work permit, you are a benefactor of the state plan, but most companies have a private plan as well, negociable.

If you need a Personal plan, AIS and Bupa insurance are examples. It all depends what is your status in Thailand: Retired resident, work permit or tourist.

PS: I never heard of a "dental plan" outside the USA. This is another thing that should be included in a health care plan.

dental is so cheap in thailand I know of no one who has a plan unless it is bundled with a healthcare plan.

generali is a popular company. Lawton Asia in All Seasons Place can sell you a plan. they are harsh on pre-existing conditions and exlusions so be sure to think about these exposures before you talk to them. they will ask your hospital to send your hospital records so if you have something to hide do it before you call them.

Thanks all. I appreciate the assist!! I'm fairly healthy and take decent care of myself (outside of the booze) but just want to make sure I'm covered in the event i'm hit by an rampaging elephant while crossing the road... I found medical treatment to fairly cheap in bkk compared to here in the states, last year I got treated for a lung infection at Bumrumgrad and it cost me a total of $90 to be seen and treated! Amazing!!! Thanks again for the assist... looks like I'll just find a good dentist and pay cash...
