Just so you don't think I'm all vampires + emo.

My all time favorite Thai musicians; Thaitanium! I had a chance to see them last year, but it was on too short notice :( I'm determined to see them this time in 2009.  I Know You Love Me - Thaitanium

Ta Leung - Thaitanium

Just watched the videos.. musicallly not very impressed. The vids are sort of generic hiphop stuff... overall not much there to seperate them from the pop sound. I would be interested in hearing different groups though... ? Any groups with a more unique sound? I know these guys have been around a long time..

stegee >> Isn't everyone? Snow Patrol is the only full album I've been able to listen to this year + ended up

deleting 3 or 4 songs from them.

GM >> This is older stuff from them but yes they stick with an old school sound, which I like. I love their music

production I think they put together some hooky beats. If you check out some more Thai hip hop you'll see

that most of it runs to the goofy side of things

SweetieBabieTS >> Are you serious?? Are you sure you live in Thailand?? The King plays Thaitanium all the time in

the palace ;)

That's all I know about Thai music.

The rest sounds to me like alt/rock + Isaan sound (bung chic, bung chic) pop/dance.

As far as music in general, it's hard to say because different people like different things (although you have inspired a series of upcoming journal posts). Groups; I don't know if there are any good groups left. Now it's all about songs, a band can put out an incredible song, but you listen to their other stuff + it's crap on wheels.

For Brit pop, emo, punk, alt/indie + some dance/remix there's a guy called Shankly who puts out monthly collections of new music. It's a great way to find some new stuff. He puts out year end best ofs, that's a great place to start. You'll find him on the Pirate Bay for sure (once a pirate...).
