as far as I have heard on European news, the perpetrator had severe mental health problems; while this does not excuse his actions, it does raise the question of why, if he was so ill and potentially dangerous, was he allowed to walk free? Surely if he was dangerous, he should have been under supervision order or in a secure unit?

I am sure those questions will be asked a lot, but for now my thoughts are with the families of those who died and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured...

It's a bad and cruel thing to do this to adult people, but doing this to very young and innocent kids make it worse.

@ Ian >>>> The perpetrator was not very cooperative with the investigators. He gave false names all the time. They now know his name and where he lives, but the investigators didn't say anything more. All the rest is just plain speculations. There's no evidence (for the public anyway) that he has a psychiatric past. He's only 20 yrs old.

@Thaibel; my apologies. My comment was based on what I had seen on BBC last evening. Having looked at the updates, I see that at the moment, there is no mention of any psychiatric history, though I would say that his young age does not preclude a history of mental health issues.

I actually hope he has had such a history, as it is easier to accept that such evil actions are the result of mental illness than it is to accept that they are just the result of evil intent.
