The EAGLE Were Awesome!!!

The Eagles were absolutely awesome last night! If you're a fan of the band and didn't see them last night, I would highly recommend seeing the show.

Just before the show started, Taksin walked in (a ringing endorsement, if ever there was one! Hahaha) and he got scattered applause. As soon as the lights went out, there was a loud BOOOOO. Gee....I might have booed, myself, come to think of it.....

The band opened the show with The Long Run. I don't remember all of the songs, but some of them were Wasted Time, I Can't Tell You Why, Life In The Fast Lane, Hotel California, One Of The Nights, Lyin' Eyes, Hole In The World (the new single, I think that's the name), In The City, etc.

Early on, Glenn Frey heaped praise on Joe Walsh as one of the world's best guitar players. And he did play some good guitar, but he wasn't the lead guitarist in the show. (I met someone later on at Patpong who said that he looked 'tired' and 'worn out'. I think 'stoned' and 'himself' would have been more like it. Joe Walsh is Joe Walsh, that's the way he is. He performed very well last night, no dragging ass involved!)

If you like the solo stuff by the band members, then you would have enjoyed Boys of Summer, Sunset Grill and Dirty Laundry by Don Henley, Life's Been Good To Me So Far, Walk Away and a few other James Gang classics by Joe Walsh and a few from Glenn Frey that my hung over mind can not recall at the moment.

The band did a 45-50 minute set and then took a quite sensible 15 minute break. (For beer drinkers like me, this was the perfect time to take a leak and get 4 more beers. They had 2-beer commemorative Eagles cups that they were giving out with the beer.) Then the band did a long 2nd set with 3 encores.

All together they did almost 3 hours of music. Well worth the heafty price, starting at 2,000 baht (I think). I paid 4,000 baht and was to the left of the stage on the next to last level up. But that was a great place to see the show. With the stadium style seating in the upper levels, the view is pretty good. Now, being further in the back of the arena might not have be the best viewing area. But the band's own light and sound show made for a GREAT night with the Eagles.

hey, glad you had a great time at the concert! glenn frey's praise is well deserved. i love joe walsh!! especially his stuff with the james gang. and the fact that he played unassumingly in the background doesn't surprise me at all. that's joe walsh, man! he just gets it done!!
