Cool GoodKarma's Mindmelt SealedWhat is Politically correct? What is your definition of politically correct?(in your own words) according to Wikidefined dictionarythis term is a broadened term used in all aspects of topics I have even come across it in reading science articles which are usually non political in nature.I personally try to stay out discussions of politics and religion unless it's with my friends or relatives. I love to discuss sports. I must admit sometimes I am drawn into a heated discussion or two at work and compelled to reply. I have had discussions at the work water cooler and lost acquaintances. I personally don't hold anyone's opinion against them I may not agree with what they have to say but I will respect it. I will talk to you in the future after the conversation is over later on I guarantee it.On the flip side I have asked acquaintances what did you mean by saying so in so and after they further explained it their point made perfectly good sense. We as humans tend to get so absorbed in our own beliefs that we neglect to really hear or understand what the other person is saying. When asked I will let you have it and tell ya exactly what's is on my mind. The realistic fact is that some people can take an opinion and some can't. You ever hear the saying "when I want your opinion. I will give it to you."One of the hardest parts of a debate or discussion is to keep the dialogue open without throwing a label or categorize the other party as a means of restricting their point of view. this is human reflex and a natural thing to do. Very tricky for you to give your opinion and to counter point with your own and to give a sensible reason why you agree or disagree without calling them a name or labeling them, after all the conversation is about understanding the situation or topic so it is very important to keep on topic and to understand where the other person is coming from and their point of view..Ironically the oxymoron is that most people state that another's opinion is politically incorrect if it doesn't agree with their ideology or beliefs or even the norm of society on a hole. in an attempt to squash the other persons valid or invalid point..one of the hardest aspects of political correctness is how does one describe one without Rendering the labels and terms socially unacceptable, people then must consciously think about how they describe someone unlike themselves.ok. enough - I am rambling on a endless rant now. This journal entry episode is not to preach or tell someone how to think its to understand the definition 'Politically correct' I have seen it used quit a few times in the TF Forums and I am curious to know how it is defined by TF members? related topics:Bill Maher - US TV show politically incorrect (youtube)note: Bill Maher on his T.V. program the topics got so hot that he was forced to move his program to cable stations. I'm not a particular fan or agree with Mr. Maher some of his stuff is way out of sinc and over the top but what he does do is open dialogue and force people to talk and say what's on their minds.disclaimer: this journal entry is not directed at or about any particular TF individuals or about any current existing or past situational TF circumstance. the ideas are commentary and for discussion purposes only.

electing Barak Obama, not because he is most qualified or the least unqualified, but because of guilt over the sins of prior generations

censorship

the oppression of free speech

dangerous group think, mind control, Maoist Self Criticism, Stalinism, Socialism, Nazism reborn, Communism re-tooled

the idea that one may allow into one's borders one's enemies and appease them into love and harmony as they stab you, gun you down and curse you

a tool of the left that is "a sophisticated and dangerous form of censorship and oppression, imposed upon the citizenry with the ultimate goal of manipulating, brainwashing and destroying society."

a first step backwards into leftist totalitarianism

a last gasp by socialist scum to dull the minds of our youth and control them

Hillary Clinton

one could go on and on...but I'm drunk and need to sleep...lol

"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Not mine...but it captures the spirit of political correctness precisely

unfortunately, the US aided his rise via our bombing of the ho chi minh trail in Cambodia, etc

then indirectly supported him through China as a means of continuing our campaign against Uncle Ho and Giap post hostilities

LBJ and Nixon should be exhumed and shot for that bit of heinousness as well as anyone who supported the idea/act

You're not going to get much action on this one from many on here. Too many eurolibs (transy-progs). And they are all in denial. They're still swearing that political correctness is a fabrication of the right.
