I hear every immigration office is different.  I've heard horror stories from people about immigration not processing their request and making it difficult for them.So today I went to immigration to get a 10-day extension.  My visa expires on Nov. 13 and my ticket to Bangkok is Nov. 23.   I rode the subway over 1 hour to the immigration office and realized I FORGOT my PASSPORT.I complete the paperwork anyway and gave the officer my application, alien card and copy of my e-ticket to Bangkok.  He checked the computer and told me the maximum stay was 30 days.  Ok, I only need 10 but whatever.  He asked me to sit down and wait, hmmmmm ok.  Five minutes later he gave my alien card to me with an extension printed on the back good for 30 days. No Passport!  No Fee!  No Hassle.   Piece of Cake.....   One thing I did notice, there were many Korean men at the immigration office with Filipino women.

You were lucky, most of the immigration offices are not like that. I might be wrong, but from personal experience, Men tend to get these things done easier than woman..

It's pretty common nowadays for Korean guys to get wives 'imported' from SE Asian countries. Usually it's the guys who live in the countryside/farmers, because most Korean girls don't want to marry guys from the countryside. It's actually a pretty interesting situation, because in about 20 years there will be a significant number of 'mixed' young people living in Korea. This will be a challenge for Korea, a country where the notion of 'pure blood' is very prevalent.

It was the immigration office in Busan, Korea, and yes, in 10 years half of all rural students will be mixed blood. They will be looked down on and most likely discriminated against.
