visa is easy.. just leave the country and come back in for a simple 30 day extension which an be repeated.

Other option is to apply for tourist Visa which is up to 90 days, costs more ofcourse and there are more restrictions on where you can get it and how.

Everyday you are in thailand past your Visa date, you will be charged 200 baht to a maximum or something like 20,000 baht, but then i think you go to prision

If you can't get your visa extended (30 days for 1,900 baht - apply at Immigration Soi Suan Plu) then yes, you'll have to exit Thailand and come back. But that gets you a tourist visa. If you want to work you'll need a Non-Immigrant Type B visa. Your employer can help you to get the documents needed to do that. Good luck.
