1st Day in USA
Not wasting anytime we got right to work in setting up life in the US.
Got Mai signed up for private driving lessons with a students license
(not the same as a permit) for 6 hours: Wed, Thur and Fri. She has
been reading the DMV traffic book since last night. We wanted her to have classes but it was only teenagers so "no go." After the driving lessons she can take the test for permit or the driving license. Either one will do as she will obtain the license this month.
We alsof signed up for Adult, Child and Infant CPR. Class
is tomorrow 8 am to 4 pm. Wanted the First Aide too but it was full
and another class is not available until June 18th. Mai needs all this for her RN license.
Contacted and made progress with two of the three credit bureaus for our business purposes. Equifax does not make it easy to contact them
via computer or phone. I will have to write them and have it special
delivered so they process it quickly. If you ever come to live in the US its important to know about the 3 credit bureaus: TransUnion, Equifax and Experian.
Went to the Social Security office in Garden Grove to get Mai's
application in. However, we learned that from the Port of Entry date
(yesterday) it takes INS / SS 10 days to process Mai's info into the
computer. Only after that can SS accept her application and then
process it in 2 weeks. So we learned that and will have to do that in
San Diego. Wandering Kev do you happen to know where the local office is located in SD? Kev, where are you: OC or SD?
Spent allot of time looking at cars last night. Am getting closer to
the Toyota Rav, PT Cruiser or Subaru Forester.
Jet lag is playing with us. Slept from 4:30 to 9:30 pm and woke up at 10 pm.
