Supposedly the most polluted city in the world is Linfen China. Pollution caused almost entirely by coal. Time magazine said: "This soot-blackened city in China's inland Shanxi province makes Dickensian London look as pristine as a nature park. Shanxi is the heart of China's coal belt, and the hills around Linfen are dotted with mines, legal and illegal, and the air is filled with burning coal. Don't bother hanging your laundry — it'll turn black before it dries."

Eagle, I like your reference to the Beverly Hillbillies, but in the end if it is true it should help Afganistan.

Jerry-heard that, looks like the U.S. will be hanging around Afgh. a bit longer. Lots of Lithium, copper, iron.

DJTX-I hear that China been closing down the dirtiest coal plants. Even clearer coal plants have "Heavy Metals" going up the smoke stack. Cadmium, Mercury, Lead, these heavy metals premiate the ground and water table. And never break-down, slowly poisoning the biosphere.
