DJ Mixes

I really like downloading DJ mixes from the internet.

There is a good site - www.djmixes2k.com - that has some great mixes but it is predominantly trance and prog. house which I love but I already have plenty of.

Now I am looking for some good DJ mixes of Chill, Deep House, Retro and Tribal. Does anyone know good sites to find these.

(There must be some around - everyone wants to be a frigging DJ afterall - presumably they publish their stuff on the net.)

I am not looking for a file sharing site - to download individual songs - instead I want to download sets by DJs.

I just use a download site called "azureus" and search torrent sites. You could also use other download sites like winMX and kazaa though some can take quite a while depending on who u are downloading from.

If your looking for some great mixes you should check out the radio 1 essential mix archive for some guidance, you'll find some of the best mixes ever. You won't be able to download from this site but if you go to the radio 1 site you can hear that weeks essential mix whenever you want.

The archive has stuff like some of the best from the usual progressive dj's Sasha and Digweed, Nick Wareen, Darren etc. and you will also get plenty from people like Timo Maas, Felix da Housecat etc.

You will also get the usual boring house / trance i.e. Tiesto, Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Fergie (brilliant Northern Ireland and radio 1 DJ)

Some of my favourites are most of Carl Cox's world tour (all old), some old funky daft punk essenial mixes, and some great more recent 1s like the audio bullies. Oooh and of course the baron of Techno Dave Clarke.

Also, though you porobably already have them, you should check out some of the "Global Underground" albums. They are mostly progressive house but a great mix of dj's including Ko Phangan's former favourit Lee Burridge and you'll get some tribal house with Steve Lawler who does a couple of great sets.

Okay,

The best site for funky assed house music is Brique Rouge (best to google all these links), they are a french underground record label run by David Duriez .. head for Audio and Goodies ... Then check all the mixes there, theres oodles of quality there .. then check the links section, you will find more clues there.

Audiofamilies.com, more funky **** from the France.

Tiger Sushi, loads of cool stuff there to dowload.

Roughmixes.com ... A platform for us digital DJ's ...

Mediagong.com ... 2 sections .. Electro' n' House ... and again ... Hip-hop 'n' R&B for the lay-deez .

That should fill your iPod, for a couplle of months, when you have had enough, PM i should remember a few more by then.

Maybe you can record some streaming audio from internet radio stations, Pete Tong on BBC radio 1, BBC Radio 6 ... Mix on six, on the leftfield trip ... also the archives from recent programmes.

Vive La' House musique!
