Japhrodisiac
So, I built my own first website, and I'm pretty happy with it, but I am realistic enough with my current abilities and I have a new project that is above my level of expertise. I'd love a few reccommendations of some local web designer/graphics types that can put something together for me relatively quickly (1 month maybe) and at a reasonable price. Anything here in Samui is at least twice the price and three times the length of time as having it done in BKK. Cheers - J
music
I also have a friend who's looking to put together a web site - and something more substantial than a photo gallery or a blogger. Can anyone recommend a web programmer and/or design house with PHP and MySQL background, preferably in BKK? Thanks. Jo
anenglishman
try asking apertureboy. he designed my site. he doesn't do sql but probably knows someone who does. as for design he is excellent. more expensive than most thais but worth it and not at all expensive by western standards. frenchinbkk
Hello, I know of a way to create websites with ease and good quality, by using the best CMS out there and then customizing it to your specific needs. If you want to do it on your own or just have a look, check http://www.drupal.org Byebye
music
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. My friend isn't technically skilled so she would have to have the site built and maintained for her. Also the site would be mainly Thai content and thus she's looking for a web site developer in BKK. DocDre
http://www.form-asian.net/en/index.php Garry Cartlidge, based here in Bangkok, a friend and good IT provider, he has a british team, that work with a staff of about 15 Thais so there is a good relationship as to how content is highlighted, etc, etc. He did our site: centaurstudio.tv Bear bones right now because we are moving the whole format to Flash but look at the "program" page and you might get an idea. They are really good about getting it done quickly.
frenchinbkk
Drupal can be used for Thai content, but to create the site and maintain it, yes you'd have to find someone in BKK, that's an easy thing to do, just go to http://www.drupal.org job forums and say you're looking for a webmaster knowledgable in Drupal and living in BKK, you could have a match. I know how to install and setup a site in Drupal but I'm zero in Thai language so I can't help your friend.
