lostinthejungle
So is there anything to do around here ? Im 25 and single, but all of the bars and all that seem to be full of dirty old men and bar girls...
GreenMountains
Maybe you should drop the Lonely Planet clichés and attitude. Not every Thai girl is a *****, even if she is smoking, drinking, dancing, working at a bar, with a farang, or has a tattoo. Not every farang over 30 is a ?dirty sex tourist?. Farangs who go around looking down your nose at every other farang as a dirty pervert for doing exactly what they are doing or think every Thai girl is a ***** just cause she doesn?t fall instantly in love with them and ?give it up for free? just slay me. Can?t find anywhere in Khon Kaen not full of ?dirty old men and bar girls?? LOL. It?s not like your at Walking Street in Pattaya or Nana Plaza. Can you speak some Thai? In Khon Kaen, it would help you meet people.

Kitschiguy
There's lots of things to do around KK. You might have to look a bit further than the town itself though. Lot's of decent food in KK, plenty of good pubs with live music a really nice lake, temples and some really cool villages and scenery around .. I didn't really notice a girlie bar scene while I was there. And last but not least .. some VERY friendly people. I met some girls and boys and they had a car but couldn't drive it, so I drove us all over the place .. had a really wonderful time. Can't wait to go back! Zombiedriven
Well BKK is WAY too big for me I don't really like staying there I will stick to my party areas and blow off steam from work that adds up over the 3-6 month streches. I am going to stay in BKK for a few nites for a party though figureing that I am going to get lost (I use to be a civilian bomb replcator Firemarker for short) and it never fails I get lost without the plugger or a map whats up with that? sunsnow
Funny thing, guys who frequent girlbars or like this commercial part of the night, tell on another forum that there is almost zero girl bars in KK...Weird isn't it, puts your opening into perspective.... Yep, seems those sluts at KK go with those whoremongers, and leave no bar for you to visit peacefully... (sarcasm here ppl, I am so sick of this *****/sex pervert stuff generalisation, why u do that too even when u have been in Thailand for 6 months and should know better beyond this...Khon Kaen is very "clean" to casual farang tourist, "boring" even in general ... that is the opinion of some ppl visiting TH frequently or living in BKK, and who like especially the possibilities in BKK (=their semi-western possibilities)...I don't know yet, I want to make my own opinion by visiting KK next time around in Thailand...KK isn't your normal tourists spot this is what to expect too, as u should know it living in Thailand already for some time. I'm cool with the non-tourists scene, but if u expect to find the next Bed Supper Club in KK, I have understood that is futile.) But surely our KK members can share with you some good Thai style whisky powered joints! I hope to hit some club like that in there. (Hopefully I wont see those horrible old men, westerners there with Thai kids, those awful pedofiles! Ups, sorry, what if they are their own kids instead! oh no, I did not even think about that possibility)
frank_stein
Its a small UNI town right? A bit out of the way? How u get here?
bryanwhat
I can kinda relate to what ur talking about. Maybe u have been here a short time and a couple bars u went to struck u as no good. Ever try drinking with the locals? Sometimes I get sick of the foreigner dominated clubs/bars and head to a regular Thai bar. I know talking isn't easy but some things don't need words to communicate.....I have met good people this way. Really I think u need to meet more Thai friends so that u can go out to clubs/bars with if there are not many farang ur age. A good place to start is your workplace/University. From there u can meet other people with a little practice.
