Stramash
Famed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin must love Facebook - he is to make a film about the hugely popular social networking site. The West Wing creator's planned movie will focus on the site's creation in Harvard campus in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. The film also highlights the huge fortune and success amassed from Facebook and how it changed the life of its founder, reports Variety. The site now has over 60 million members and is reported to be valued at $16 billion. Sorkin said on his Facebook page (where else), "I've just agreed to write a movie for Sony and producer Scott Rudin about how Facebook was invented. "I figured a good first step in my preparation would be finding out what Facebook is, so I've started this page. (Actually it was started by my researcher, Ian Reichbach, because my grandmother has more Internet savvy than I do and she's been dead for 33 years.)" Sorkin also wrote recent Tom Hanks political comedy Charlie Wilson's War and is working on The Trial of the Chicago 7. Is this the start of the current trend of movie adaptations of social networking sites - MySpace by Martin Scorsese anyone?
