Bruce551
To tide over the present situation of serious recession, I suggest in addition to the routine steps, there is an urgent need to reform the general outlook of people. They must be taught to feel responsible, act accountably or in short to have a good sense of ethics. Lack of sense of ethics would cost dearly as is evident at present. Everybody thinks their small indiscretions are negligible; but these little discretions add up to something when done on a mass scale. Further this outlook becomes part of the culture and would give rise to the outlook,"afterall everybody does it, it is not so wrong after all." Then these little indiscretions grow bigger and bigger until something like the recession or the great depression comes along. Therefore a mighty campaign is needed to impress upon the people the need to have a good sense of ethics. Without this other measure wouldn't be of much help. PeeMarc
Often in life, it is harder, takes more effort, or there are more barriers when making an ethically 'good' choice. Moreover, it requires one to actually think and make a conscious choice. Somehow, over time, most of our actions are actually just reactions (we keep doing as we ever did) and compulsive (no thought). And we leave most of the most important choices of our life for others to tell us what or how to do.
