Well I have arrived in Bangkok safe and linked up with my dear friend Som, and already had meals with some wonderful ladies, however I got a bit forgetful. I went on a river (Chao Praya) cruise for Loy Krathong and careless Nigel forgot both wallet and camera. A kind American treated me to a beer, but the show, well I guess that will stay in my head.Shame as it was awesome
I was feeling sick on wednesday, and so I took the day off work. During the day, I had a phone call from Club Travel (the people who I use to book my holidays), and they informed me that I had won a holiday in Egypt for myself and a partner (my father) - all expenses paid (apart from the personal ones of course).
After that my health and mindset improved a lot
Hmm, I know a TF journal is not a great place to review a restaurant but hey I think this place is worth it. Very very few are. I have eaten there twice already, and am already looking forward to visit number 3.
The place is called Lotus Thai, and it's in Pretoria East (yes I know there are other TFers in Pretoria). The food rocks, and its Thai owned (a very nice lady called Sasipin). The picture of the Thai King and Queen really adds to the place as well. The two waitresses are always pleasant
This is just to let you know that I am still around, though work and studies have kept me away from the fun things in life a bit. Next 2 weeks I am writing exams (both Friday papers), and after those I hope to feel a bit more human again.

Well, remember the phone calls which brightened my day on Thursday 23 June (Ladies Day - journal). Well I figured I might as well try and follow up with the one who called me (as much as I care for her, I really am not keen on going back to my ex - at least not yet). I had quite a shock on the 23rd, a 419 letter sitting in my TF mailbox. You can check out the 419 scam on any good website, but it essentially promises a great deal of money (frequently millions of US dollars) but you have to pay admin fee after admin fee, and if u don't pay family members have been known to be threatened. Of course, the millions of dollars don't exist

There are times when time seems to fly, others when it seems to crawl. Waiting for November and my next visit to Thailand falls under the latter (time crawls). However my air tickets have been booked, and come November 15 I will be back in Bangkok.
I just wish time would fly to that day

I have got a fun month ahead. Tomorrow night after work I leave for Bloemfontein to attend a workshop for 3 days, so I'll be off line tomorrow night until thursady and back in the land of TF on Friday night. Also must try to study for my exam on the 23rd. I had a friend stay over last night, the poor lady was beaten by her boyfriend. I begged her not to return to him and if she has to meet him, then it must be at her sister's house.

My girlfriend and I had a nice heart to heart last night, and what was resolved is that we have an open relationship. We still stick together, but if either one of us meets somebody who feels better for us than we can go our seperate ways, though still remain friends

I have heard a couple of negative comments about Pattaya, and never having gone to the place I would like to hear some comments from those who have. I won't be going there in November, but this is what I have heard. The statements are paraphrased and not precise wording

Is it possible to have a day trip to Isaan from Bangkok or would I have to spend the night in the North East? I really want to meet a couple of Isaan based TFers and I am not sure whether it would be practical for them to come down to Bangkok when I am there (even though its still way in the future)
