hello friends,

i was supposed to watch 'the saddest music in the world' on sathurday night, unfortunately sth got screwed up and im still sort of upset about that a bit. anyway, since wouldnt be watching that movie, we decided to come home and watch 'city of god' that we rent the other night instead.

gosh....this brazillain film is the best!

it's a father of 'pulp fiction' in terms if plot, storytelliung and its hybrid structure.

very well done indeed!

every shot was beautiful...

i cant decide which movie between 'city of god' and 'song from the scond floor' that i like more? but if u have chance, pls try!

Since I have alot of friends from different parts of Brazil, I saw this one during it's limited release in the US theatres Great gangster film, but what makes it powerful is that's it's based on a true story the coincides with what my Brazillian friends tell me about the 'hood.' Glad you enjoyed it. If you're ever in Brazil, there is a tour guide that takes you into da 'hood.' It seems she has an agreement with the local drug lords who promises that there will be no intentional gun shots at the onlooking tourists. That's reassuring!? lol

if i ever visit Brazil, i dont think i'll ever visit city of god, eventho your friend has an arrangment with the drug lords, but as u can see in the film...those hoodlums shift their power like flipping the pages!

"did you see the scene when the chicken runs and escapes from a car???? "

U bet my derriere I did!!!.....and on a forty foot scene I might add!!! ;) lol

It's great that you're open to foreign films. I'm into so many different things that my circle of friends are made up of all types of ethnicities. They've introduced me to their delicious food, facinating culture, beautiful people, and interesting films. imo, films are a great way to learn about other cultures. My favorites are Spanish films.

Here are some out of the way recommendations for ya. Devdas. Good story line and great performances and costumes. Very grandiose! I must warn you that bollywood films are highly colored with drama and combine song and dance into them (not favored my most westerners). Malena is also a good film that uses images and scenery to convey its message.
