Some great news for the Martial Arts fans out there! There will be a Muay Thai Contender show airing on TV soon (later this year). The show is filmed in Thailand and will feature 16 fighters, featuring current champ Yodsaenklai Fairtex as well as Lumsongkram Chuwattana. Apparently it will air in Thailand (Channel 5), Europe and South America.Check out the promo vid below:

guessing that the clip u posted is from youtube.

don't see it at all.

anyway, think it would be fun to see the muay thai version and even more fun with the language barrier between the thai fighters and the contestants. but it's a good way to promote thailand to another group of tourists. they might stay in the country longer but might not spend as much unless they train at fairtex! ^_^

It is a Youtube link, it shows up fine for me, the link is here:

Muay Thai has definitely grown in popularity thanks to MMA/UFC and Pride, talk about Muay Thai training and travelling to Thailand to train is discussed quite frequently amongst western martial artists.

Simmo, if you go to most Muay Thai gyms in Thailand you'll be able to train there, most will accept farang. There's all types of people training at the gyms, from guys that are overweight and unfit to guys that are world champions. My advice is to just go to a gym and train :-) Most gyms have two sessions a day, a morning session which usually comprises of a jog and then light conditioning and then a late afternoon/early even session which comprises of bagwork, technique and sparring. I can recommend Jitti Gym, it's located at the Ratchadapisek MRT and lessons are taught by ranked ex and current stadium champions. Lessons are 300 Baht and the afternoon sessions are from 3-6pm.
