As you mentionned on your list, Canada was one of the first country to legalize s-s-m. Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. I was in favour of life partnership contracts (ie. legal and economic protection for same sex couples similar to that of married couple), but against same sex marriage. But I understand why some people would feel differently.

BTW- You should pass on the news to Ciaran and Bobbyboy, they might decide to immigrate.

can you imagine Ciaran's wedding vows???

I f**ckin promise to be f**kin faithful to my f**kin partner etc etc

Although not legally binding, I have actually performed 3 same sex handfastings for friends; 2 pairs of guys and 1 pair of girls; they all decided that if UK law did not allow a proper marriage they did not want the crappy 'civil partnership' on offer so chose a ceremony that at least had feeling to it...

Afraid Denmark is like UK p'Nicky; it only has civil unions, not actual marriages.

Although Denmark does have the honour of holding the 1st government recognised same sex union in MODERN history

(China, Japan and Rome all had it in history)

: )
