I didn't see any posting about this - in Journals or in the Sports forum. This is about a week late since I have been travelling. I played Volleyball in college and still enjoy watching high-level vball competition. So I was in BKK the weekend before (Sat Sept 12) - just sitting around and saw that the semi-finals of the Asian Women's Volleyball championships were on True Sport. Thailand vs. Japan. So I thought I'd watch. I saw that the semi-finalists were Japan, China, Korea & Thailand. No surprise to me that the north  Asian teams would be there. And I thought it's good for Thailand - they beat out all other SE Asian teams (like Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc) and they will get 3rd or 4th place. But I assumed they could not compete with the north Asian teams. Wow was I wrong!! The Thai ladies are really good. After dropping the first set they came back and beat the defending champs Japan 3-1 on Sat then followed up by beating China 3-1 on Sunday to win the championship!! There are some nice photos here on this site - http://www.asianvolleyball.org/photo%20gallery/2009-09-14/266035_5.html
