From Wikipedia:

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a holiday that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.[1][2] While not an "obligatory federal holiday" in Mexico, it is celebrated primarily in the state ofPuebla, and in the United States.[3][4]

What it really means is that on the 5th of May Americans celebrate a holiday that has nothing to do with them by eating a lot of Mexican food and getting drunk on margaritas and tequila.

Go America!

How TF will be celebrating is by gorging ourselves on some of the best Mexican food this side of the Mekong River.  English Bob is hosting a Cinco de Mayo party at Charlie Brown's on Sukhumvit Soi 11.

500 baht all you can eat fajitas.

Buy 2 get 1 free Corona beers.

50 baht Jose Cuervo shots

Plus pinata smashing (pinatas provided by TF's own Manee).

Click here for EB's invite and pics of the food on offer.

If you don't know where Charlie Brown's is, shame on you!  Frown

Okay, you go up Soi 11 to where Cheap Charlie's is.  You can't miss it because there will be a lot of farangs (and a few Thais) getting drunk in what looks like an outside bar.  Go down that little sub-soi and it's sandwiched between a massage place and a tapas bar.

Still don't know?  Here's a map.  You can also use the map and phone number on the Charlie Brown's website if all else fails.

If you have a holiday in your country that America can adopt by eating local food and getting drunk on local alcohol please let us know or make your suggestion at the US embassy directly.
