Travel on an expired passport!
Never try to travel on an expired passport. I still remember the time it happened to me and I pray it never happens again.
On that day I was supposed to be traveling on British Airways from Bermuda to London but I couldn't fly out that day because the BA manager told me that I need a valid passport to get on the airplane and he could be find 2000 pounds if he let me go through. The next day I tried contacting everyone to see if there was someway they would allow me to travel. I found out that I needed a temporary passport which since that was Friday at the end of the day I would have to wait till the following Monday to start the process.
So I waited out the weekend and it took me another 4 days until about 5 pm before we actual received the passport via FedX Thai Embassy in Worthington DC; I flew out within the next 2-3 hours that same night.
The day I had arrived to London. I remember the British immigration was giving me a hard time to get thought arrivals at the air port.
I was stuck in Gatwick for about an hour before they let me passed through in order for me to transfer to Heathrow and go on to Asia. Again I was stopped in Singapore but this time wasn't so bad. Immigration kept me for about 30 minutes before letting me pass through but allowed me to wait in a very nice lounge and he was very friendly just like the country. We felt very welcomed and off course he let me passed through and also let me stay and travel in Singapore for 3 days. Smile!
After I had my fun with shopping amazing food and a little bit of traveling around Singapore I headed to Thailand my country.
But things were not as smooth as I thought. First question I got form Thai immigration was ...Are you Thai? Why did you let your passport expired? Did you understand that you could get in serious trouble for coming back home on an expired passport? Show me if you are really Thai? Can you sing a Thai song ? Do you know what the name of Bangkok was 1,000 years ago? How is Birdtongchai? First I thought he was joking me but he told me it was past of the test to make sure that I'm not a Burma or Laos holding on a fake Thai passport. Okayyy..... That was so funny. I thought.
Anyway I had a hard time getting back home. I would never let this happen again ever!
I was in Bangkok for 2 months - enjoyed getting massages almost everyday and good food. It was very nice vacationing back home vacation.
But once again when time to go back I got a problem with the Singapore air line. They would not let me fly to London without visa.
So I'd showing every things they need to make them let me pass thought...Bermudian letter resident and transit thought Gatwick -
Heathrow. anyway they so afraid of getting fined by BA. immigration and they kept me waiting until last minute before boarding the plan - we had to run like crazy to catch the flight.
So I ran to gate 36 with two of Singapore airline staff. It was far away and I was so tired by the time I got to the plan and the air plan was delayed because of me. But it was an experience and I would nerver forget!:twisted::twisted::twisted:
