Hmm...its was usually about 1000 Baht not 3000 - they are trying it on a bit there I think...even with the fuel increases I dont think it should have trippled.

There are some larger taxis around - like a people mover type of vehicle, and they could easily take your gear, but you may have to ring a taxi company and ask specialy for it. Just the normal taxi radio cabs should do.

An alternative is one of the bus services - you can catch the expensive aircon bus from Ekamai bus terminal - the cheap one used to be 50 baht, but the aircon one was a bit under 90 baht. Of course you will then need a local taxi at the other end - and I must admit those pick-ups they use are not wonderful.

If Grezzzy has any contact details for cabs, I will ask her to post it here.

Just "Google" Limousine service + Bangkok + Pattaya

I did that last year and found a guy from a dive shop in Pattaya that sent a Volvo to pick me up. Was about 1600 baht I think. If I still have the e-maill address, i will PM you

I paid 2500 for one way to HuaHin just lately and that's not cheap tho', Im sure I could find a cheaper rate if I tried. To Pattaya should not be over 2000 even though when the oil/gas price increasing everyday like this.

I dont have any contact for you... Sorry, just the idea of the price..

Yes most taxis can fit an amazing amount of stuff if there is only one pax.

Sadly I end up with LOADS of crap when I travel as I have my large case (I may be going to a destination for one to six months or more) also my laptop, and another computer bag for the external drives and interfaces and all the usual junk...and if Grezzzy is going too, there is her case and laptop as well! We don't usually have too much trouble with getting it all in.

I asked her about the taxi contact, but she didnt have any that she could think of immediately.

Have a nice time though - and dont forget to write! :)
