Well it seems official, MTV and VH1 have pulled out of Thailand. This after Bangkok hosting the MTV Asia music awards earlier this year. This falls on the heels of low ratings (so I've been told). Is channel V really better than MTV or VH1? I liked MTV just because they actaully covered good young Thai artists..Thaitanium, Ebola, Joey Boy, Modern Dog,etc. I guess it's Thai boy bands with Japanese style haircuts from now on if you want to watch a music channel, (Channel V's default format) Channel V has got to be my least favourite. Anyone know a little more about this situation? Any opinions are welcome as there is almost no press material released.

It seems that BBC + CNN all of a sudden disappeared from broadcasting here in BKK (via shin sat?). BBC is still available via cable in Pattaya I've heard so this may be only in BKK. Any more news?

As I understand it all the matches are going to be shown live on terrestrial TV. Channels 3,5,7,9. That means no problem watching the matches but no english commentary (we wont have the simple UBC sound channel change). Now I remember the last world cup and it was impossible to get an english commentary.... Nothing on the radio and the broadcasts on the internet were delayed by 30 seconds. A mate of mine has installed a satellite dish that picks up South African satellite and I hear that hotels are getting an english commentary feed (probably from the same source). So for this World Cup... what's the strategy for an english commentary feed??? Anyone know any websites with commentary or radio stations broadcasting in Thailand?
