did anybody else see Freddy Adu's debut?

i think expectations are extremely high. he came in as a back-up in the 61st minute to a standing ovation. he looked okay and moved pretty well with the ball, but he's been getting by on lower levels with his excellent speed. guys on the professional level know how to neutralize that. he did hold up one good run by Bobby Convey by lingering offsides. he also (what appeared to me) ran up the back of 35 year old defender Jeff Agoos and promptly ended up sitting on his rear end. he threw his hands up in a half hearted appeal for a foul...but if anything, he should've gotten a foul for his own clumsiness...or worse, what appeared to be the lack of a good move. i.e., we all know you are good and fast in a straight line Freddy, but let's try putting some moves on the field. but then i remind myself that he's only 14...supposedly.

I heard he just made his debut at age 14 and a few months. Doersnt matter what happened in the time he was on..the fact that he made his debut at such a young age is impressive!

A lot depends on how his family and team treat thim. They have to keep his feet on the ground and protect him from the media frenzy and spotlight that will follow him round for the next 20 years!! Good luck to the lad!!

He's the highest paid player in MLS already! and he's 14! that's expectations...

It will be interesting to see how he handles fame and being in the spotlight so often. He hasn't got the same kind of structures around him like wayne Rooney or Michael Owen did. He's a prodigy but lets see how he handles fame & stronger opposition first.
