tidy well-ordered Democracy? where?

people seem to want to throw stones at at how the Thais do things. "we western countries did things so much more competently, why can't Thailand be more like us?". as an American i can't agree.

1)in 1787 the US Constitution was written, granting special priviledges to the states with large populations of enslaved Africans.

2)in 1861, during the American Civil War in which nearly 213,000 Americans died (out of a population of 49 million), President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves.

3)in 1963, 100 years later, the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. made his "I Have a Dream" speech.

4)in 2008 (another 45 years) Barack Hussein Obama, the first president that was not of 100% European descent was elected.

between Martin Luther King's speech, and Obama being elected, there were the Watts riots in 1965, more race riots in 1966 and 1967. there were widespread riots nationwide after King was assasinated in 1968. there were riots in 1980 in Miami, Florida, and the Rodney King riots in 1992. there were also riots in Cincinatti, Ohio in 2001.

why can't the Thais do it like we did? why would they want to!

the Thai people still have a way to travel before they achieve what could be considered Democracy, but it cannot be said that the way they are getting there is particularly incompetent or messy.
