But to answer the question, I rather say it is harm because it present unrealistic scenarios that real-life relationships can't live up to. So let me hear your answers too :-). Thanks !!! Yes, the soap operas are the worst. Although I'm sure that this would apply to many soap operas, regardless of country, but some researchers have commented that watching too many Thai soaps could cause some issues with emotional maturity because viewers are fed a simple plot line with one-dimensional characters. Add to that the propensity for extracting revenge, resorting to violence to resolve problems, and overly dramatic breakdowns and it's easy to see how this could warp someone's head if they don't get an equal amount of quality role models to learn from. From Wikipedia: Because Lakorn present a melodramatic storyline featuring simple one-dimensional characterizations to capture the broadest viewership and commercial sponsorship, they generally do not foster critical insight, reasoning or problem-solving skills, nor a multi-perspective consideration of the human drama being viewed.
