Question

The last weekend of 2012, we spent at Kamphaeng Phet, a place worth visiting although it is quite far from Bkk (some 350+ kms). For more details and pictures, please see the Traveller's group:

Looks pretty nice. How were the hotels and restaurants? Was the weather bearable?

The weather was perfect. Sunny but not too hot. Food in this area seems to be generally much more tasty than elsewhere and also much cheaper. For restaurants, we ate at Mae Ping Riverview restaurant (very prominently to be seen) and one noodle restaurant (a former favorite of my wife's when she studied there about 20 years ago). And close to our hotel, there are three or four bars located. The hotel itself was quite good with a nice, clean room (but a bit weird electric wiring) incl. balcony; a bit noisy though due to the cheap windows, so despite Kamphaengphet being a sleepy town, one noisy car or (more likely) motorbike every five minutes or so was a bit embarrassing. Actually, there are lots of new home-stays now on the other side of the river.
