I wouldnt be too hasty about no air con, its been sweltering here and I dont think you would say that after a night drowning in perspiration, take my tip and go for the air con. Having just visited Bkk, I can honestly say go for the air con - it is just too hot now. Should also look for accommodation near public transport - personally, I love using the BTS.
