Men & Women, a different species...

It would seem that some of my journal entries have proven popular, and whilst sitting trying to think of something new to say in my journal, I hit upon this topic.

Men and women are from different species!

The journal entries I have been writing have been about digital photography. And I was thinking along the lines of, anyone would look at a photo of a woman naked, how many would take much interest in a naked man picture? A lot of men would be like, "yuck" and turn away! Ok so a lot of women would secretly be scanning the nude male picture. But I think the female nude picture would obviously have the men looking, but the women would look too. I think you ladies would secretly be thinking, her boobs are bigger than mine or my stomach is flatter, whatever, whatever...

But the differences don't stop there do they? In nearly any situation that you could put a man and a woman in, they will react in a completely different way.

For instance, lets really get the women going with a blatant example... cars and driving! Put a man in a car and he suddenly knows where everything is and never ever gets lost, and he positively doesn't have to stop to ask directions!

Put a woman in a car and .. well, close your eyes, pray, try dissasociation, think "calm", think "I can't hear all those car horns beeping at us! I am really relaxing on Jomtien Beach, not in between lanes on Sukhumvit Road in the rush hour, facing in the wrong direction"!

Whatever you do, never ask a woman to reverse park! It simply is not possible. On average a womans brain is 5% smaller than a male brain. It's a well-known fact that the missing 5% of the female brain was the part that held the "how to reverse a car into a parking spot" subroutine.

I don't want any of you to think I am anti-woman! I love women. In fact I especially love thai women. I would go so far to say that there are things that us men can't do that women can do. And if I sit here long enough thinking, I might be able to come up with something.. eventually!

So come on ladies, what can you do that us men can't?

And men, what can't women do, that we men can (and peeing standing up is not a thing to brag about!).

Reverse parking is all about spatial awareness.

I have to decry your missing 5% theory as bunkum.

The simple scientific fact of the matter is; that as men we are trained to pee into the toilet bowl. In darkness, drunkeness or with one leg up. The majority of women lack this training and therefore have absolutely no idea of how big or small a given space is...

a) i buy the pee-aiming training as geometric-spatial awareness training, as evidence? a busload of girls learned to pee standing up, like boys, in college. anecodotal evidence suggests they miraculously dont stop and ask for directions and can park.

the brain size theory has been thoroughly debunked repeatedly both in terms of gender and race, most entertainingly by stephen jay gould in an article entitled "wide hats and narrow minds." i dont remember which book, so read all of them until you find it. great stuff.

Women are better at multitasking.

mostly true but not all women are better at multitasking, but then again either a) i'm a girly man (can't parallel park very well either, but i dont drive very often) it's a left-brain right-brain thing, which i suspect right-brain ppl tend to be better at multitasking.

there is actually some science behind the idea that women are better at language and men are better at spatial awareness/geometry.
