now that the soccer football transfer window has slammed shut...

anyone have any hot tips for who the worst signing will turn out to be? who is going to be invisible or suck outright, in spite of the hoopla and outrageous tranfer fees?

i'm going for the easy one first:

dear liverpool:

dirk kuyt?? really?? wtf were you thinking...

I think Sheva will come good though. He is a quality player and it wont take him long to adjust to the premieship. Chelsea seem to be lacking creativity at the moment which is not helping but remember how long it took Bergkamp to score his first goal for Arsenal...Wasnt it something like 8 games...

agree. i mean if the guy can score in italy he can score anywhere.

he hasn't looked bad off the ball at all--but he's not getting served enough to score much. also a player of his talent and reputation will tend to draw a lot of attention from the defense, which can free up other players to score. 30 million is a lot though. if it were any other team--like one that had a budget--i'd say too much, but chelsk got the bank to play with.

predictably andy johnson looks a fine signing.

i am still highly skeptical of kuyt. havent seen him do much in big games for feyenoord (to my pleasure i'll admit, i hate feyenoord). he's not terribly fast either. at least, though, gotta admire his work rate.

PS welcome back sarpedon.

injury prone carrick 18.5m stlg/34m USD ..good player undoubtedly, but he'll need to produce a lot if utd are to recoup that fee

I would have to disagree with Carrick being injury prone. He played most of the games last season for Spurs and it was a bad tackle in pre season that kept him uot for a couple of games this season.

Yes he is a good player but Man U overpaid for him.
