European Union is weak and pathetic

Not sure if there has been much coverage in Thailand on the British hostage crisis in Iran.

It seems that when the going get tough Britain as ever in Europe cannot rely on the week Germans and need i say the ever cowardice French, let alone the any other of our so called compatriats.

Our own government has been equally pathetic and spineless in supporting these brave soldiers who are serving under a UN mandate in one of the most dangerous places on the planet, and now captured by a evil regime that is blatantly disregarding every rule regarding prisoners under the Geneva convention.

So i ask you if this evil regime continues pursue its nuclear programme when it has proven time and time again that it cant be trusted will you be backing US military action should it occur or would you prefer to leave it to the cowardice of Europe i.e. Britain, France and Germany to ask them nicely not to make a nuclear bomb, when their President has already stated Israel should be wiped off the map.

I may be wrong but I believe the French have already spoken up and expressed their outrage to Iranian authorities. Im not sure what else they, or the Germans or anyone else can actually do in this situation?

Even our own government, who I am not a great fan of, have to tread carefully and not put the lives of the 15 captives at further risk. Branding them pathetic and spineless is an opinion youre entitled to express in this free world.............so with such a strong opinion, just what do you suggest they do to ease the situation?

40% of Irans exports go to the EU, if the EU stuck together and put a blockade on this then im sure theyd be free in no time. They need this cash for their nuclear bomb programme.

I may be wrong but all weve had fom the EU so far is a pathetic statement condemning this on behalf of the whole union. I am also not aware of any individual countries using strong language against the Iranians. I stand to be corrected on this.

Hopefully the situation will have resolved itself in the next few days (without anymore innocent soldiers having to die in this medieval part of the planet), but the British government has been shown up for what it is, a week cowardice excuse that isnt fit to represent it peoples, and the "Union" part of the EU seems to only apply when they need extra taxes for there unelected undemocratic experiment.

We know about Iran's intentions and ways since the beginning of time, so why take the risk of going into water which is close to their border when you don't wanna get arrested ?

THEY ARE SEARCHING SHIPS FOR WEAPONS THAT THE IRAQI INSURGENTS ARE USING, OR SHOULD THE UN LET THEM GO BY HAPPILY AND KILL AMERICAN AND BRITISH SOLDIERS.

IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL TO ARREST SOLDIERS IN THIS SITUATION (THEY HAVE DIPLOMATIC STATUS), EVEN IF THEY WERE IN IRANIAN WATER THE MOST THE IRANIANS ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO DO IS ASK THEM TO LEAVE RIGHT AWAY.

Keep your distance, the material on the ships is more than capable to monitor them from safe distance.

Guantanamo Bay is full with (possibly) bad people which still have to be judged and proven guilty.

I dont think the government of Iran will do anything unless its hand is forced, like it or not, this is the middle east and power politics rule.

Iran knows if the UK resolve is serious, the US and UK could seriously cause issues for Iran.

Whether or not they were on one side of the river or the other, these men+lady are soldiers and soldiers are supposed to be held in accordance with the Geneva convention.

This whole thing reminds me of reading how central asia acted in the 19th century, lets capture some russians or some ukrainians or some chinese and barter with them. In the end, Russia swept through central asia, opps.

All of Iran's buddies have backed away from them, Russia was helping build atomic energy plants and pulled out, China is quiet on Iran, and the Sunni Middle east already hates them.

The whole thing was nonsense, and I didn't like the way our press ignored a lot of the real issues to focus on the female sailor in almost all their coverage.

I guess this is away from the original topic subject however ... I reckon that has pulled any respect that was left for the military down to its lowest level. All that worry about their safety and so forth, only to have some of them turn it into a circus. What would be so interesting that would compel people to buy a newspaper or magazine to read about it?

Is that a couple of hundred zodiacs I see heading for Iran waters?
