So, ofcourse I can find more info from the net, and I already have read about most prominen thigns, like the pouring of scented water on elderly. This stemming from some clensing rituals. But then I came across in some journal here other things:

Song Nam Phra?

Rod Nam Dam Hua (this is the pouring of water on hands of the elderly, so, this was what I already knew :))

Building sand pagoda on the temple grounds? What is this all about.

And why does songran extend over so many days? Is there some sort of special things that take place everyday?

(In Christian cultures, for example Christmas and Easter is over few days and every day has it's own "reason" or theme and its own traditional activities. But then, new year is just one day.)

Also there seems to be a lot of variation between Thailands different areas when it comes to these things what to do in different days.

So, maybe you could share here what happens in your area in different days around the Songran period. :) (Or maybe I just need to do my own research:))

my family, we always go to a temple in the morning then to a fish market to buy some small fish, eels and turtles and release them in a river (without those bastards who try to catch them not even 5 mins after we release)

after that eat out together..either lunch or dinner time..

apart from those activities i just stay home..dont wanna get wet plus im allergic to the powder they use

its been 2 songkran that im not with them but im sure my family still do the same

Everyone is back to normal life and routines, so I try to wake this thread up once more. :) In reference to original question:

What are your songran traditions? What u do? Do you do different things on different days? What did u do this year.

-------------------------------------------

Ps. SiamHotel: your writings are odd. Came to my mind, have long time thought to ask their idea from you. What is their point? Everytime you write to any thread or or to journal comments, you write this kind of stuff...or just some odd wordlike things, that do not make any sense, or just weird "laughter" letters/words... Explain?

tradiotions.... juzt tradi[o]tion
