robbie36 Posted June 29, 2007 Report Share Posted June 29, 2007 Just got off the phone with Truevisions and it seems as of Sunday there will be no ESPN/Starsports (although they claim that negotiations to extend their contract are still ongoing). Now that is a bummer - cutting off Wimbledon half way through the tournament. And, of course, that's an end to champions league, F1, rugby, basketball etc... The row is pretty similar to what happened over the music channels. True started its own music channels - then started to negotiate with VH1 and MTV over rights to their music channels and next thing we know, they are off air. This time, True has bought the EPL rights (so no more John Dyke) and will be splitting live EPL games between Gold and Platinum subs. Now it is going back to Starsports/ESPN to renegotiate its programming fees and next thing we know, they are off air.
