You can find beer almost anywhere on this planet along with Coca-Cola but not wine!

There are many reasons to that, like wine can only be made in some parts of the world, its normaly much more expensive then beer and the lack of knowledge of what wine is!

Me myself, i rather sit and sniff on a glass of wine then anything else with the exception of being in a hot hot hot area, coming in to a bar and get a ice cooled bottle of beer :)

So, generally, which do you prefer? Wine or Beer?

I grew up in Australia where, arguably, some of the best wines in the world are made. And beer is part of the culture.

Out of beer or wine, my choice was always wine; particularly a good red. But I really prefer to drink it in a more temperate climate rather than the sticky heat of Asia.

My Dad came and stayed with me in Singapore once and brought with him 2 bottles of Grange Hermitage (1971) and 2 bottles of Mount Mary. Sitting on my verandah and loving every single drop of those wines with some decent cheese was sublime.

Here is Asia though, I've almost given up on drinking wine. Restaurants often dont have good selections and often served at wrong temperatures. I also love spicy food and i find that I just dont enjoy the wine as much.

These days I drink icy cold Corona beer with my Thai food (love the slice of lemon). I drink wine on its own occassion when I can really enjoy it for what it is. The same goes for a good, single malt scotch.

for me an ice cold beer hits the spot every time . . . . on the rare occassions i partake of a beer or 2 !!!

Corona is a decent beer but at half the price i prefer Tiger . . . and if u like a slice of lime in ur beer Sam Miguel Light is perfectly acceptable !!

Geez that ain't no CHEAP WINE!!!!! He was lucky to get it on the plane just recently a guy broke two bottles of Grange because customs said it was to much liquid to carry on the plane!!! (He didn't want customs to drink it)!!!!

I like beer myself !!! But it has to be cold!!!!

Yeah, actually I bought those bottles of Grange for my Dad years before at the bargain price of about AUD$120 each. I believe a 1971 would set you back over AUD$500 or even more now. Probably the greatest wine and vintage ever produced in Oz. Sharing those with him that day stands as one of my fondest memories of that time in Singapore.
