Absolut
Hey all! Just wanna let you Tar Heels fans know that they are in FINALS which will be played tomorrow against Illonois. The basketball team must be some kind of god here, or just a reason to party. Everyone has at least a t-shirt with their university (UNC). The national championship is really huge here. Go Tar heels! zeusbheld
Yes, I'm here for an exchange program between our schools, Karolinska Institute, Sweden.I'm sick of Franklin street, do you have any tips of where to go around here? i always hung out at cat's cradle, i got in free coz i was a dj at wxyc. to my taste the best hangouts in the area are indie rock kinda places, there are occasional art events or jazz events but not many. durham has some decent places i forget the name of the street, but the hipster joints are all kinda college-town-coffee-shop sorta environment, or places for indie bands to play. i graduated a loooooong time ago so everything is different (i noticed cat's cradle moved to carrboro, aka the paris of the piedmont). i didnt get too much into the basketball when i was there coz i was too lazy to wait in line for tickets and coz it wasnt cool for artsy types, now i'm over that and lovin' it. gonna watch the ballgame tonight. go carolina! Absolut
Ok, thanks for the tips...I'll try some indie rock cafes Anyway I think UNC seems to be a really good uni with lots of activities around school. I think it was some 20 yrs ago since they were in finals. Were you there? You're probably not that old  If they win tonight they'll probably have a parade along Franklin. By the way, which state are you in now?
zeusbheld
currently i live in NYC. holler if you wanna come up here (we met in bkk in december, you are a friend of The Oyness, correct?). if they win the town definitely will go nuts. previously they won it all in 1927, 1952, 1982 (michael jordan), and 1993. they have been to the final four 16 times, including this one. a half decent history IMO.
