Due to damages at Khlong Raphipkat dam, they are now reducing water in the basin and channeling it through Khlong Rangsit. My wife already told me that the first houses in our project are flooded now and estimates that within two days, the water will be at our place. Luckily, some of her family helped her to get sofas, fridge and washing machine in the upper floor but still, the big furniture incl. the kitchen are at risk. I hope that this time the stupidity of the foreman who supervised t
Lots of TF members are people who came from far away, working in Thailand or elsewhere. For all these people I created the group "Expats" and I would be glad if you share your experiences with us, whether you are in Thailand, iraq, kuwait or whereever!

As I am a frequent traveller out of several reasons and I could see a lot of different types of travellers, it came to my mind to set up a poll about this. Specifications of the basic categories I identified are to be found at
http://www.thailandfriends.com/group.php?discussionid=95&do=discuss
and the poll, you can find at

Hope that there will be quite some replies as a lot of those being online here are
Ok, again one of these sad evenings where I have to leave Thailand, and this time it might be for a bit longer (approx. six months). Good part of it is that I could upgrade my ticket, so I am sitting in the Business Lounge killing time until check-in. Travelling from Thailand to Europe in Economy is a real pain in the ass, but in Business it is acceptable, although staying longer with my wife of course would be the preferred way.
Time for winning the European Lottery Jackpot when it is about 15
Well, maybe it's not too bad to do a bit of promotion. I have set up a group aimed at travellers to share experiences, funny, bad, dangerous and good stories. Up to now, nine TFers have found and joined it, maybe there are some more out there who are interested?
Initial topics have been set up but everyone is free to add his two cents (maybe even two dollars). You are all most (NOT almost!) welcome!

Sometimes it's great to calculate!
Since last August - and including coming September - I will have been together with my sweet wife for seven months, something we never managed before (we are togehter since Oct 27, 2002, were married Buddhist ritus Apr 23, 2006 and finalzed paperwork for legal marriage on Mar 18, 2008). Wooow, I've never spent so much time together with my sweet wife (counting over the year) before and I am afraid that it will not reach this number for the next - at least - t
Yesterday, we did a trip to Chachoengsao, to the (very obviously) famous Wat Saton, where my wife did some merits. Already the temple is worth going, maybe not on Sundays, because it's crowded, but Arlai told me that last time she went on a Saturday and there it was fine.
At the parking lot, a guy was handing out flyers for a sand sculpture exhibition and we went there after the temple. This piece really is worth going! It is small but very beautiful and interesting; and the entrance fee of TH
Sunday, Dec. 20, 10:00am: 82 year old Erna B. asks her grandson Norbert to install a set of three electric candles at the window sill in the living room of her tiny town house in the Stenkelfield area.10:14am: Neighbour Ottfried Q., while emptying his garbage, notices the provocative act of Christmas offensive and subsequently counters with a 10-flame Chinese candle set (20W each) on the window sill of his kitchen.5:00pm: Whole Stenkelfield neighbourhood is illuminated with 134 contemplative Chr
Well, I left Thailand and my lovely wife on Sunday late evening and now I am in cold and wet Vienna again for two months. Shite!!!But during my last stay, we achieved a lot: We have the shower cabin now and (after some really adrenaline-pumping events) our nice kitchen and also the big locker in the bedroom. And we even managed to have one nice and relaxing week in Bang Saen. Well, would be to be satisfied. But I miss my wife and I miss the place that we set up for the both of us ((! So I will h
Well, most of you might not care but I launched the new version of my homepage right now. Maybe one or the other of you might be interested to see some pics of different continents and countries. Oh yeah - and for all of them, there are also some short descriptions, if applicable! Please find them atwww.heinznitsch.comOoops, the page is made for 1280x800 px (16:9), as I see, 4:3 viewers might have some inconveniences and have to browse more to the right and left!
Wooow, one of the rare occasions! Today is the 7th anniversary of the relationship with my lovely wife (fervent TFers will have found out by now who she is: arlai1) and it is only for the second time after our 5th anniversary that we are together at this day so important for us! Well, no big plans for this evening (two years ago, we went to Skybar) as we have lots of things to organize for our house, but a nice Korean BBQ will be on the list for this evening!
So, after one year in the Western Sahara and eight months in Afghanistan, I am "free" again! It was an interesting time and I don't want to have missed that, but now, it is time to concentrate on my own things. Well, it is work again, although not paid.... The shower cabin will arrive next week, the kitchen should be ready at the end of the month - given that I fix all the electric connections before that. And then, we have to organize a company who will build our terrace and fix the roof over i
Well, I emerged luckily of the sands and winds of Western Sahara and it took me 34 hours without sleep to do so. Today is Sunday, and on Wednesday at 0620, my beloved wife should arrive in Vienna - woooooow!!!!!Whatever will happen, we will see! Plan is that we will see - apart of Vienna (well, one of the three most beautiful cities of the world!!!) the surroundings of this great city and then the most imporatnt and beautiful places in Austria - and there are a lot!!! Oh yeah. before I forget -
Hey, I am here at the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria, to be precise, and I like it very much! Having a break is always good, especially when at work you are confined to a Teamsite that is very much in the desert and built up cheaply. Here on Gran Canaria, you can do everything you like and thanks heaven it is the low season with mostly elderly couples from Germany, UK, and The Netherlands - well, they might be a nuisance once thay are in front of you while travelling the narrow and windy roads her
Since three weeks now I am in Western Sahara (a country disputed between Morocco, Mauretania and the Frente Polisario (a Freedom Movement). Let aside the political issue, the living conditions and the UN system, the desert is great! Behind every hill and every dune, the landscape changes and I am very lucky to find myself here after heavy rainfalls, so some parts of the area are really green! Have you ever seen a sunset in the desert? Well, I cannot describe it, but you can see every colour poss
Hehehe! I'm really proud of my last forum entry! It brought up some interesting opinions! Anyhow, my American friends, I did not want to discredit you as a whole and you can read that on page 12 of the forum. Anyhow, I am glad that it brought up some thoughts!http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=DB_phpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=13313
In August 2005, I started gathering information what we would need for marriage. After a looooong journey, I am very happy to state that with the registration at my home office yesterday, our marriage now is official all over the world and everything is completed now. Well, nearly everything, as the stupid official at the home office in Thailand did not allow my sweet wife to take the family name we wanted. So this will be the last thing to do (at another home office, of course), but it is not f
Just came back from Kabul to home #2 (= Vienna - I consider our house in Rangsit as home #1) on Thursday; on Friday, I had to do some check-out things and now I have one week of "holidays" - hahaha! More stress than ever! Not only that I have to do a lot of private things, also everybody is calling me and wants to invite me! On one hand, this is really nice and it shows that I am not forgotten, on the other hand this is very stressy, as I have - like said before - a lot of other things to do. Ad
Ok, now it is coming close. The boxes are packed, they got me the ticket and arranged everything for my two-days travel and now I am doing my last preparations. One last voting spree (well, maybe there might be one more tomorrow evening) and then I am ready to leave for Kabul. Will be interesting to see the changes since 2002, although I do not expect much change to the better. As I see, there will not be much time and opportunity to get online on TF during the next six months, so take care and
From now on, dear friends, vote whores [] and other people who appreciate me:I have got my new assignment finally, originally it should have been Media Officer in Bosnia, but this did not work out (well, I knew that since late Nov. '07 - and it was because I was in Thailand in Oct/Nov '07 for finishing my house there). So I am going to Kabul/Afghanistan again (as I have been there before as a UN-employee in 2002) as a Liaison Officer. No problem with that as Austrians tend to keep themselves out
Well, I saw a lot of TFers online before I went to my New Years Celebration - meaning that at midnight (Thailand Time) lots of people (in Thailand) were online, several of them even posting. Geeeez! Didn't you have a New Years Party? If not, pity on you and my condolences for that! BTW: I was online until Dec 31, until 19:40, then I went for the party I was attending until 05:00 - now I am here again! So - what was the reason several people of TF were online at the time of the years change in T
Well, I am not a Christmas guy (since 1996, I don'celebrate it anymore) BUT I see that Christmas is an important time for most of you, therefore I abide to the common habit:
Merry holi(y)days
and a healthy and prosperous year of 2008 for all of you!
