Strong eyes, guess she will grow up to be a very stubborn one.

Imagine... she might wanna take that thing off her neck if doing that doesn't kill her.

Unfortunately... she will die to do such...

I just imagine... not sure if she will die tho... but it will be hard for her existence in the society for sure.

And that's worst than die.

Tawan >> yes she is but you should know Karen dont like when we call them long neck, they like more Karen Padaung, like them real identity

Sinderella >> thx for your comment, but you should know, this a legend to say they will die, if they take off, they can take it off with any problem. and some woman do it whan they have to change it. I tell you this because i have seen and asked them. Now i cant say if its good or not, its not my culture, but with the small experience i have, i never heard some woman say something wrong about this, maybe it will be more difficult with the new generation. This is also a politic problem with Burma and Thailand, to make those tribe not look like animal in a zoo, and give them more liberty. like some tribe in the north of Thailand (Lisu, Hmong..)

Stupendous! 8)

As for taking of the rings, there are already (young) women from the Karen Padaung who refuse to wear them anymore because of the exploitation they have to endure at the hands of the Thai authorities which put them into 'special' (tourist) villages just like zoos. A recent article about such village being opened near Pattaya jumps to mind.
