Every Country has its problems with imigration and visitors. I am not baging our Trans Tasman
cousins. NZ has a problem with its South Pacific neighbours. The USA has problems with Mexico
Western Europe , The Eastern Bloc, England with everyone. Thailand with its neighbours. This is
a cut and past from "THE AGE" newspaper. I am sure we all have tales to tell on this subject.

Kiwis 'worst-behaved visitors'

It's official - New Zealanders are the worst behaved visitors to Australia.Department of Immigration statistics show that over a recent three-year period more New Zealanders were deported or "forcibly removed" from Australia than guests from any other nation.Almost half of the 84 people removed in 2005 were Kiwis. In 2004, 23 people out of 66 removed were from New Zealand and again in 2003, 54 out of 97 kicked out were New Zealanders.Following close behind through the airport departure gate were the British, with 13 thrown out in 2005, five in 2004 and five in 2003.Other poorly behaved nationalities - though in much fewer numbers - were the Malaysians, Vietnamese and Chinese.A department spokesman said crimes committed by the deported foreigners included aggravated sexual assault, manslaughter, armed robbery and receiving stolen goods. All of those shown in these statistics as having been deported had also served jail sentences in Australia before being shown the door.

baboe made sense. Maybe those 42 Kiwis are out of a million!!

I had problem entering Australia one time when I had business trip but travelling alone. The immigration there really couldn't figure out why a Thai woman travel into Australia alone. I had to showed them business card and had few mins interview.

Its a lovely country though. I will go there again..:-)

Wow! That's amazing! They only caught 84 of us?!?! :oD Considering that shitting on our closest neighbours front yard is well known Kiwi past-time carried out by tens of thousands of us each year, I am surpised the Ockers haven't caught more (actually, I am not that surprised).

Haaaaaaang on a minute.... I am no Kiwi (actualy an Aussie from Orange) but is this story typical Australian newspaper stuff... get some information, skew it to make it catch more attention, then away you go?

What percentage of the Kiwi visitors were deported/detained etc? What percentage of the Malays etc? Quoting absolute figures out of context like this is a joke because we don't know the rest of the information.

Actually I am laying the blame at the feet of Australian newspapers in general, but that too is unfair.

Worldwide just about everything is miss-reported if you only read or listen to one account. You have to get across a range of sources and then you might get closer to the truth... note I said "closer".

I have worked in the engineering side of the broadcast media all my professional career, and to see the story that goes to air and compare it with what came down the "wire" from the news services (like Reuters, AP etc) you would be amazed!

To play Devils advocate for a moment of course, not knowing how the percentages stack up may mean that we are falsely underestimating the problem too of course!

Maybe this is just the tip of the ice-berg (or according to Giles' comment, the tip of a berg composed of something entirely less pleasant than ice - and on our front lawn too). So we need proper representation of the facts so we can give the New Zealanders a fair trial before we throw them out...

......nah......just joking....which bit? .....well may you ask!

We all know and understand that
