Reflections on an ex.........

"Out of the blue" today I received a "paniced" phone call from my ex-wife about an incident that happened at her work place. After calming her down and giving her my advice, our conversation drifted from a "I need your hep" kind of call to a rather calm and pleasant conversation...a conversation that we haven't had in years.  In the past our communication was pretty much limited to the simple "hi" and "bye" when I would go and pick up my daughter.  This time, however, was different.  This time we managed to stay on the  phone for what turned out was a little over an hour and a half!!!  Our conversation went back and forth between what was happening in our lives to our work and pretty much "old times and friends".  In short, it was a REALLY NICE conversation.I'm not sure why my ex-wife chose to call me today, but on my long and cold ride home on my motorcycle (yes, Hawaii does get cold......lol) I looked back and thought to myself that we had become friends and have finally moved on.Sorry if this journal seems a little weird, but hey, it's  mine and these are my thoughts.....WinkAloha to all and take care,Dan

It's sad to think that more people can't be like that. I am very glad that you and your ex have finally found peace and a commonality - odd that it should disappear when a marriage ends in divorce - but it usually does. Shared memories and experiences from time spent so close to one another, as in a marriage, can never simply be erased, but in many cases I think one or other of those involved just closes the book on those times and pretends they never existed. It is a lie to yourself to deny that part of your own life ever happened. You only live it all once, so every part sad or happy, is your life.

Happy for you and your ex, Dan... Happy Valentines Day to you and yours! Past and current..!

i think this could be very interesting for you if you ever entertain any thoughts of getting back together or wished things could have turned out differently ;-) personal experience tells me that she's lonesome and thinking of you. just maybe she's grown up and realized that she doesn't really have the options she thought she did... really good to finally be friends though, and maybe don't want to risk loosing that.... does seem that she is really reaching out in an I need you kind of way.. Happy Valentine's Day!
