Hi I will soon be visiting Thailand and I was wondering if I could get a sim card for my mobile, (in Thailand Phuket) can anyone tell me how to do it.Can it be done at a phone shop?

Like Ammy said, even 7-eleven has a sim card for 200-300 baht, then you can add credit to the phone at 7/11 as well.

7-11 has 1-2Call for about 400 baht. that includes the SIM and 50 baht worth of call time. you can get recharge cards in 100, 300, 500 baht increments. each time you recharge your amount it adds time onto the life of your SIM card. i have had my same number for about 3 years.

I have a Thailand Sim Card and I will be returning to Australia around late March.....if you are still in Australia, you are more than welcome to use my Sim Card.....all you need to do is recharge it.

They have said it all. don't by D-Tac I found it hopeless. Get the one suggested by I_love_ som _ tam 1- 2Call. I found it to be the best.

I bought a 1-2Call SIM card at 7/11 on Friday, costs 250 Bht and you get 50 Bht credit free, dont forget to buy a top up ard too or you wont be making many calls :-)

I did have a problem trying to activate the SIM but only because I was being thick, I was eventually rescued by a nice lady in a bar who done it all for me in a few seconds.

what happened to the security about buying sim cards over the counter as the government were worried they were been used to set off bombs in the south.....guess that got forgotten like everything else around here

I bought one last month, they had me fill out my nam on a form along with my address, looked at my ID card, verified it was me. This was at a phone shop on Sukumvit/Soi 3 there's a Starbucks as you walk in the building, was 1900 baht for a new phone w/sim card (old phone was trashed).
