My father has been living in Bangkok since 1983.He's now 81 years old (his birthday was April 20), and he suffers from advanced Parkinsons disease. He can no longer use his legs and has bowel control problems. He's also mentally confused often and quite moody. Whether this is a result of the Parkinsons or just senility I don't know.Currently he lives on Sukhumwit soi 24 in a condo which has been renovated to accommodate him and his wheelchair. He lives there with his Thai wife and a couple of helpers. However, it will soon be too much for them to keep him there, and he will probably have to go into a nursing home at least part time.If anyone can provide any information on nursing homes in Bangkok with some English speaking staff, it would be greatly appreciated. Ideally we're looking for a place that might have some other expat elderly residents.I've already contacted BNH Hospital (which is no longer a nursing home, despite its old name "Bangkok Nursing Home") for any information they can provide, and am waiting for them to reply.

I know some of you are long-time expats here and might know of some places or have some useful information. Anything you can tell me would help tremendously.

Phuket is not an option. It really has to be in or near BKK, and Google has not been of much assistance (otherwise I wouldn't need to post here, except for getting some opinions on existing places).

Cost is not an issue.

Thanks Cherry. Does your dad get mental confusion also? Sometimes it happens with Parkinsons, but because of my dad's age it could also just be old-age senility - impossible to know. I wish your family well.

I know one hospital on Sukhumvit Road call " Kluay Nam Thai Hospital" They are specialized in geriatric. There is 2 Kluy Nam Thai Hospital, one on RamaIV which is a general hospital but one on Sukhumvit is more like an elderly home. Check them out.

As long as I have been in a medical areas, I haven't heard any "proper"nursing home in Bangkok. In Phuket is more like a retirement resort / facilities that accommodate more on healthy living senior citizen. Some of the private hospital in Bangkok would admitted your dad as an in-patient and take care of him but the cost would be really high.

I hope this help :-)
