Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday on the 28th June.

I had a really weird birthday. I'm supposed to be in China now, but I picked up a really horrible bug in Laos which I just couldn't shake off. I was 'diagnosed' with amoebic dysentry but after 5 weeks of troubles I was advised to come to Thailand to make an emergency poo for the doctor, which I did and we found a parasite. But It's gone now. So, I spent my birthday in Chiang Rai hospital, which was grim. There was a dog in it and lots of people on drips in the corridors. It wasn't as the nice as the one I was in at Easter.

I spent a fair bit of time traversing, swimming and fishing in the rivers Laos. The doc thinks this may have been a contributing factor to my illness.  I've lost a fair bit of weight and I haven't been training for a while so I'm feeling less than perky at the moment. I think I will stay in Thailand for a bit so I can get back in training. I joined a gym today so now I'm gonna get ripped. Yesterday I ran around the old airport twice. It was hard work because it was very hot.

Today was a very good day. I drove to Doi Luang National Park with my friend. It's near the town of Phan about 60km south of Chiang Rai. We had a picnic at a waterfall and went for a swim. Then we had a posh iced coffee in Chiang Rai. I will spend the next few days eating, drinking riding my motorbike and being a little scallywag. Then I'm gonna hit the mat.  Night night everyone. Take good care of yourselves. Matt
